Boldizsár László’s birthday concert
Boldizsár László is celebrating his 50th birthday this year, and to mark the occasion, on 6 January 2020 (fittingly, given his namesake, on Three Kings’ Day), he will be giving a large-scale concert.
For this event, he has – surprisingly – targeted the genre that he has not been heard singing – or at least almost never – for the past ten years: the world of classic jazz and swing.
For this, he has has solicited the aid of Hungary’s number one big band, Budapest Jazz Orchestra, with whom he’ll be singing songs by the Hungarian and American performers with whom he has always identified in terms of both voice and musicality, such as Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones and Péter Máté. He has also enlisted the collaboration of four ladies with whom he is closely associated: one of them is one of the Opera’s top sopranos, another is a singer with whom he started his career back in the day, and the third is a leading actress, who will also serve as the hostess for the evening. The fourth, also a soloist with the Hungarian State Opera, is his own wife.

Szilvia Rálik, Adrienn Szekeres, Judit Schell, Helga Nánási and the Budapest Jazz Orchestra

The songs are getting new Hungarian words specifically for this concert as interpreted by such outstanding lyricists as Miklós Vámos, László Éger and Szilárd Móri.

Costume designer: Anikó Németh (Manier)

The concert will also mark the start of a charity campaign we are launching to benefit the Pál Heim Children’s Hospital. We’ll be filming a Christmas video with the participants in the concert, and the royalties from this hallmark song for the campaign and a predetermined share of the concert revenues will go to supporting medical treatment for the children.
Tickets are available from, as well as at the Erkel Theatre’s box office.

This concert is being organised by ShowTime Budapest Kft.
